2009 DELORA BERTSCH HONORED AT CITY HALL
FOR HER INSPIRATION OF DEAF AWARENESS

Delora Bertsch will be honored at L.A.'s City Hall for her accomplishments and achievements despite being born deaf.
In tribute to “Deaf Awareness Month” in Los Angeles, Councilman Tony Cardenas is honoring Delora who is an inspiring artist at the Angels Gate Cultural Center. Delora Bertsch, born profoundly deaf, inspired her local community of her untiring motivation as a business woman, and volunteer works.
This Friday, Cardenas will hold a press conference in the City Hall honoring many other recipients for their achievements as well as the accomplishments of other role models in the deaf and hard of hearing communities.. Following the press conference, each council office has been asked to join Cardenas in recognizing extraordinary deaf and hard of hearing individuals in their respective districts during the City Council meeting. Councilwoman Janice Hahn presented her a ward in the LA City Hall.
In 2003, Cardenas designated September as “Deaf Awareness Month” in Los Angeles.
